Claudio Muruzabal is a recognized information technology industry visionary, bringing over 35 years of expertise in global senior leadership. He provides strategic advisory and consultancy services to CEOs and boards on matters of business transformation, innovation, and technology development. With a notable track record as an independent board member of publicly traded Fortune 500 companies, Mr. Muruzabal currently serves on the board of Principal Financial Group (NASDAQ:PFG).
Mr. Muruzabal recently concluded a remarkable 10-year tenure at SAP (NYSE:SAP), where he initially led the Latin America/Caribbean and EMEA South regions. Most recently, he was instrumental in steering SAP's global go-to-market function as Chief Business Officer. A fervent advocate for customer success as the foundation of sustainable growth for global enterprise cloud-based software companies, he played a pivotal role in establishing this global function at SAP.
Prior to his tenure at SAP, Mr. Muruzabal served as the Chief Executive Officer of NEORIS for 11 years, where he directed the company's growth from being the captive IT entity of CEMEX (NYSE:CX) to becoming a global leader in business and IT consulting. NEORIS, which was recently acquired by EPAM (NYSE:EPAM), is now a key player in its industry.
Before joining NEORIS, Mr. Muruzabal held several increasingly senior positions at NCR (now NCR Voyix - NYSE:VYX), including leading the company’s business operations in Argentina, Mexico, and the Latin America and Caribbean region. He was instrumental in establishing the Teradata division prior to its spin-off from NCR.
As an ardent advocate for education and an entrepreneurial mindset so as to promote social wellbeing and economic growth, Mr. Muruzabal has served on the board of Junior Achievement Americas and led the Argentina Chapter. Additionally, he was appointed to the boards of the Council of the Americas in New York and the Latin America Program within the Woodrow Wilson International Center in Washington, DC.
Mr. Muruzabal holds a Global Executive MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a double major in Business Administration and Accounting from the Catholic University of Argentina. He was honored with the prestigious Technology Leader Bravo Award in 2019 and was named one of the 100 Most Powerful Business People in Latin America by Latin Trade. He has been a member of YPO, Young Presidents’ Organization since 1997 serving in several boards of the organization including the International Education & Information Technology Committees. Recognized as a Hispanic leader in the United States, Mr. Muruzabal has been a North America HITEC 100 award recipient since 2018.
